The Kodak POC, or Point of Care, offers the busy physician what they need to capture and view computed radiography images in a small clinic or mobile environment. Even the smallest Kodak POC system, the Point of Care 120, offers a variety of useful features so that it will provide you with superior digital medical images at home or abroad.

These portable xray machines from Kodak will function on either a wheeled cart or on a desk or tabletop. This gives you a great deal of flexibility in how it is used, because it can be rolled into a variety of areas, such as sports arenas, forensics labs, cruise ships, nursing homes and other venues where digital xrays are needed. Digital medical images can be taken whether the patient is standing, lying down or sitting for ease of use.

As a Dicom Viewer, the POC system allows for the optimal viewing of digital medical images. The digital images that you take can be printed or archived onto CDs or DVDs as well. The digital images themselves, powered by Omnivue chiropractic or general viewing software as well as Kodak image processing software, can be enhanced with the Dicom Viewer, made larger, reproduced and sent off to other locations on your network. A laptop computer can be used out in the field when the system is used as a mobile unit, but the unit also comes with a nineteen-inch, 1.3 MP resolution monitor. Digital medical images taken with the system can be archived with the Patient CD burner for convenience.

The system allows for speedy previews as well. You can have an image preview in as little as sixty-three seconds.

These Kodak units come with two different sized image capture cassettes with plates. These include the ten by twelve inch and the fourteen by seventeen inch sizes. The system runs on Omnivue acquisition software.

Kodak, as a maker of portable xray machines, also offers the Point of Care 140 and Point of Care 360 in addition to the Point of Care 120. Both the 140 and 360 systems were designed for use by orthopedists, podiatrists, chiropractors and others in specialty practices. The 120 system offers throughput of twenty plates per hour, the 140 system at 40 plates per hour and the 360 system at over 60 plates per hour. All of these CR systems are best for small and mid-sized medical facilities that need an affordable and versatile digital imaging option for low volume imaging situations.

The biggest thing you can do to improve your triathlons is improve your bike split, as this is the longest part of the race. The easiest way to go faster on your bike is decrease your aerodynamic drag. When riding on level terrain above 27 km/h, 90 percent of the resistance you have to overcome is the air drag. If you can substantially reduce your wind drag you will go faster with less effort.

The following three areas will make the biggest difference in order of importance:

• Body Position
• Wheels and Bike
• Helmet and Clothing

The first and last items on this list cost the least to get a big gain. Wheels and bike while the second most important are the most expensive.

Body Position

Between you and your bike, your body is 80 % of the wind drag. Getting a more aerodynamic body position will make the biggest difference to how fast you will be able to go. A low position on the aerobars will put the smallest hole in the wind but you must train to ride comfortably in this position. Add core based cross training and Yoga to your program 2-3 times per week to see big improvements in your ability to ride in the aero position. The longer you can stay in the aerobars the faster you will be.

You want your elbows no wider than your hips and your forearms level. Your back should be flat. A hunched back compresses the diaphragm, decreasing your ability to breathe. You want to get your torso as close to parallel to the ground as your fitness allows. And keep your head down when riding and look out the top of your eyes. Keeping your head down is worth about the same time savings as an aero front wheel.

If you are working to lower your handlebar position, winter is a great time to do it, as most of your riding will be on the trainer this time of year. Lower your stem 2-5 mm every two weeks, giving you time for your body to get used to the new position.

Seeing a professional bike fitter can be some of the best money you can spend. Their job is to get you in the most aerodynamic position that lets you put out the most power.

Wheels and Bike

Once you’ve taken care of the 80 % of drag your body causes we move on to the 20% left, which is your bike. The two biggest parts are your frameset and wheels. Reduce drag here and you will see the biggest improvements. For wheels you deep rimmed carbon fiber wheels. How deep will depend on how big you are and the riding conditions you face. Deep rims are more affected by crosswinds so the deeper they are the more you get pushed around. Lighter riders need to go shallower with a maximum depth of 58 mm. There are exceptions but this depth is a safe bet.

When it comes to frames, if you want to change it out then you are usually better off with a new bike. You want a frame that is narrow with deep airfoil shaped tubes. The seat tube should be airfoil shaped with a cutout to tuck the rear wheel into. The fork should have the same airfoil properties as this is the first part of the frame to hit the wind. Top brands include Kuota, Cervelo and Guru.

Aero Helmet and Tight Clothing

Get your self one of those funny looking helmets with the long tail at the back. The helmet merges into your body when you are in the aerobars improving your overall profile into the wind. The Giro Advantage is well tested in the wind tunnel and well priced. One of these helmets will save you over 1 minute over 40 km.

There is no point in making everything else aerodynamic and then wearing a tent. Make sure all of your clothing is skin tight with nothing fluttering in the wind. A small detail, but success is in the details.

Maximize these three areas to see a big improvement in your bike split. As I pointed out earlier your body position and aero helmet are the least expensive part to implement. Once you’ve taken care of those, start saving your pennies as a new triathlon bike with carbon wheels are a big investment.

Roofing problems on the whole are uncommon, but you should still consider this an area of concern. The primary thing you should look for are telltale signs of roof leakage. Roof leakage is usually happens as a result of missing or damaged shingles or improperly installed flashing.

Here are some simple steps for you to spot roofing problems.

1. Go around the house and inspect all of your ceilings. See if there’s any water stains, loose or sagging plasterboard, and peeling paint.

2. Go up the roof and cheek your roof’s surface. The roof surface should be a flat and uniform. Damage or defects caused by shrinkage, cracks and tars may allow moisture to seep through the roof way before that moisture will turn up in your building’s interior.

3. Check for moisture. This is usually evidenced by a soft or spongy surface area. This could mean that there is moisture trapped underneath that could be due to damaged or wet insulation.

4. Your roof edge or the sheet of metal at the edge of your roof should appear even and uniform. It should also be firmly attached. If you don’t fix this right away, it can result to poor drainage.

5. Speaking of drainage, you should clear all visible debris from drains and gutters. See if there’s any standing water on the surface of your roof. If need be, get yourself a new drain to avoid any further complications.

6. If you need to have your roof repaired, see to it that the work is completed as soon as humanly possible to avoid added deterioration of your roof system. Make sure to you get only highly skilled and competent professionals to do the work for you.

Ideally, you should schedule a roof inspection at least twice yearly. Routine checkups should be done in the spring and fall months. Spring checkups enable you to correct damages without having to worry about work disruption due to bad weather. On the other hand, the fall checkup is the perfect time to inspect if there are any repairs needed to be done in preparation for winter.

Document the result of your inspection and if possible try to take pictures of your roof’s condition. Moreover, it pays to be systematic and through so use a checklist when conducting your inspection.

The latest incarnation of Sony’s video game portables is the PSP Go, revealed in the autumn of 2009 at the E3 gaming expo. The PSP Go features are significantly different to older models in the line, and come together to offer a stylish and practical alternative to the regular series.

The first, and probably most talked about, of the PSP Go features to deviate from older models is the lack of an UMD drive. Previous models have made use of the media outlet for both games and videos, but the PSP Go does away with it completely. Instead, Sony intend for all software for the PSP Go to be downloaded onto the 16 GB of internal memory. This bold move will be facilitated by the PS store, which is building a vast catalogue of games and movies to be made available to the PSP Go features.

The previously mentioned 16 Gb of memory is flash based, and can be extended to 32 GB by the memory stick micro. This PSP Go feature offers a vast base of memory so players won’t be stuck for room. The screen has been slightly reduced in size since the PSP 3000, but offers a much sharper picture at 480×272 pixels. The compact screen layer is slid upwards to reveal the buttons and d-pad, which also includes an analogue stick.

The PSP Go retains all the basic features of its progenitor, including wi-fi accessibility and connectivity to the PS store both individually or through a PS3. Sony are busying themselves to make all previous UMDs available through the store, and gamers can now also access ‘Minis’, a new set of cheaper games from classic ranges such as Tetris and Megaman.

So there’s a quick introduction to the PSP Go features. The machine retains the classic feel and features of the original, whilst presenting a dynamic new design and innovative media capabilities. Sony have announced that exclusively downloading titles is the plan for all videogames in the future, and so the PSP Go console is paving the way for a new step in gaming history.
