May Stalkers Beware!
By Regina Jacques
Jane has been single for three years this week! Jane and her buff, built husband Bill went over to her friends Jona and Gabe’s house to break in their new hot tub. Bill did a lot of the talking that night. Jane asked her friend Jona a question maybe an hour into our conversation, and Bill started to elaborate. Well, Jane told Bill that she had wanted to hear Jona answer the question because he was talking most of the night. Now instead of simply sweeping that under the rug, he became very quiet. She then told Jona that she thought it was about time they should be heading home.
They went inside to shower while Jona and her husband covered their hot tub. As they started to go back into their house from the back patio, they heard this loud rumbling noise. They saw Jane fly out of the bathroom as the door swung open she yelled out “call 911″! He’s dashing right behind her following her out of our front door. Jona’s husband started to run after them, and he saw Bill punch her in the face in their truck!
Jona and Gabe were able to get them to go back inside to try to help them cool off. They talked to them for a good two hours, then thought it would be OK to let them go. They got a telephone call about fifteen minutes later from the Sheriff’s office asking if their friends Jane and Bill were over at their house and if they were quarreling. He wouldn’t tell them what had just occurred, so Jona told him what happened.
The very next day she called Jona and explained that when they were stopped at a red light which just so happened to be right in front of the Sheriff’s office, she apologized to him. He thought she said it in a snooty tone of voice, therefore he had smashed the windshield of their truck with his fist! She then jumped out of the truck, and ran through a ditch to get to the Sheriff’s station.
He ran after her and twisted his ankle in the ditch, therefore she was able to escape. She had tried the front door of the station, and to her surprise it would not open. She then tried to open a few other doors around the building, and finally the very last one she got to was open. She told the officer that she felt that her husband had a bit too much alcohol and she did not want to stay the night with him being drunk. I was completely shocked that she didn’t tell them what really happened that night, but it turns out that since he was a fireman in the same county, she just wanted to save his job and disposition!
She is a very fit, intelligent and beautiful woman. He started out by being verbally abusive towards her. Even though she’s a gorgeous, intelligent woman, he would tell her that she was ugly and stupid, and just tear down her self esteem to smithereens. I cannot go on and use the profanities he used, but I am sure you can imagine all the nasty mean things he could have said to her. He said things to her that she would’ve never said to him because she really loved him and would never have said anything to hurt him.
From a man who once treated her like a princess, he slowly started to blame her for every stupid little thing, even though it might not have been her fault. He started fights about every stupid minuscule thing. It was absurdly ridiculous. Once he started being physically abusive, unlike several other women in her situation, she realized that life was too short to put up with him. He was adamant. He said he would change, but he simply couldn’t. He was just rotten whether he was drunk or sober.
Jane said that he even started stalking her and caused problems for her at work, etc. She had to use her stun gun on him when he tried to attack her when she got out of her car to go to work. He never bothered with her again after he painfully found out she protected herself. She ended up getting a restraining order, but that little piece of paper is not always the only form of protection. Some just might not care. I am telling you about Jane’s story since January is National Stalking Awareness Month.
