Waste Baler
By Michael J Greenwood
A Waste Baler helps businesses store waste for collection in as space efficient way as possible. Separating paper, cardboard and plastic is now commonplace for many industries so having specialist waste baling machinery is considered a necessity for many busineses.
It costs businesses and organisations money to have waste collected. There can be two methods of charging for waste disposal: by weight and by volume. Waste like cardboard, paper and plastic is too light to be charged by weight so it is charged by volume. It, therefore, makes sense to compact rubbish into as smaller space as possible. This is where a waste baler is best used.
Depending on type of application, baling machinery is available as horizontal, vertical, mini, midi and mill sized. Requirements, budget, cost and labour usually dictate which type of equipment a company or organisation uses. Waste machinery can be leased or purchased.
Horizontal waste balers process more waste and require less hands on operation due to their semi or fully automatic operation. Whereas vertical balers are generally less expensive to purchase but require more manpower. Many companies, if can justify the initial outlay and have a sufficient throughput of waste to process, often opt for horizontal balers as they can be the most cost effective in the long run.
Mini balers are fantastic for producing smaller bales that don’t necessarily require additional specialist equipment to move to the waste storage and collection points. The choice of which baler to purchase or lease is ultimately based on requirements but always do your research before going ahead and acquiring a waste baler.
