Fund Raising Event
By Grace Oh
Today I was involved and observed on how corporate companies tied up with charitable organisations to create a “win-win” situations on both sides.
Me and several of my other friends took part in a fund raising event in Singapore. Basically we raise funds to help a local nursing organisation. The main sponsor was a transport organization who “helped” out by coming up with designs and products for us such that for each donation made, the product is given to the donor.has
Such was the pervasive influence of commercial enterprises and non-profit organisations.
Let me share my interesting observations on how the organisations and also, the public benefitted.
By coming up with the designs and the products, the transport organisation in a way “promoted” and enhanced its services and presence to the public. Perhaps in view of the fierce competitive transport market in Singapore, the transport organisation hoped to retain its competitive advantage and capture the market share, economically speaking.
On a compassionate side, the nursing organisation benefitted. The elderly and the poor are helped by the generous donations from the public. The organisation was able to boost its profile in the perhaps already saturated charity organisations. With stringent rules in Singapore in view of past recent “corrupted” scandals in which charity organizations are not put in a good light, perhaps this is used to negate the bad impression that the public had viewed of charitable organizations.
Lets now shift our focus onto the public. Singaporeans are known for their helpfulness in giving genorously to charitable causes. By donating to charity, they place trust in that the money is used a a good way of helping the elderly and the sick who are currently residing in the charitable organizations. When Singaporeans receive the products by donating, perhaps they may get a good impression of the company and hey “perhaps its a product” they should think about using in the near future.
These are my two cents worth of what I observed, hope you readers enjoy reading!
