First you have to understand what your computer’s registry is. On a Windows computer this a database of many of your computer’s settings. Some do and some don’t. It’s like anything else. Some work better than others. There are some that don’t do much for your system while others are programmed well to do a better job. It’s just like a virus scanning software. Some are good and some don’t do a good job at all.

What to do before using this type of software?

First of all, be sure that you read real reviews about the software to make sure it’s real and not a malicious piece of software. Secondly, back up your files and create a system restore point. The reason is that any time the registry is changed, the computer can technically crash.

You can get away without actually using one, but it doesn’t hurt using one at all.
