By Andrew M. Miller

It’s an unfortunate fact for many men that with aging comes hair loss. Some men really suffer and start losing their hair as early as their 20s. Others are more lucky and don’t begin to lose their hair until middle age.

The stigma attached to losing you hair is pretty powerful. It’s seen as a sign of old age and men will go to great lengths to regrow what was lost. Some are even willing to seek medical treatments and pay quite a bit of money.

You’ll find that hair loss isn’t always caused by old age. There are many diseases and treatments that will cause hair to fall out. Cancer and chemotherapy are commonly known to cause hair loss but you may not be aware that it can also occur as a result of minor diseases or even surgery. Hair loss is also found to happen to some people after taking medicines like antidepressants.

Is there some special miracle cure for hair loss? Not quite. However, there are some treatments on the market that will help, such as Rogaine. Rogaine causes hair growth but the trade off is an itchy scalp sometimes. Another drawback is the expense and the fact that it will stop working if you stop using it.

A lesser expensive treatment is Propecia, which as also been proven to regrow hair in about half of patients that used it. Like Rogaine it must be taken continually to work.

Fortunately, there are a few natural ways to prevent hair loss. Lifestyle changes like eating less fat and reducing stress have been shown to make an impact on hair loss. There are plenty of studies that back this up, so begin eating healthier and enjoying yourself more and you’ll likely end up with more head on your hair to show for it. This will take a conscious awareness about what you put into your body and you may need to make an effort to enjoy yourself more, but they’re still things that you should make sure to do nonetheless.

Often the best treatment of all is making lifestyle changes. Do what you can to limit stress and eat right by being strict with yourself – it’ll definitely pay off over time. With that done, you can expect to see real changes in your hairline.

If you are experiencing hair loss don’t give up hope. There are medicinal and all natural ways to prevent your hair from falling out. You might want to go the natural route first, if that doesn’t work, then see your doctor.
