The time of cheap gas has passed. In some parts of the world people are paying twice as much per gallon as they were a few years ago. And the media tells us that the prices will continue to get higher.

Many people are very concerned and they don’t know what they should do. Obviously they can’t afford to continue just paying high prices at the pumps. But people still need to go to work or do their daily tasks that requires them to use a vehicle.

A good solution that many people are becoming aware of are fuel efficient vehicles. They will get you where you need to go with less gas being used. Scooters are very fuel efficient vehicles.

They are not as fast as mopeds – their maximum speed is about 20 miles per hour with the electric models. Nevertheless, you can use them to move around faster and easier than using an ordinary bicycle. Electric scooters are fantastic if you live in a small town where things are relatively close. They are especially good if you do not have public transportation available.

There are different laws when it comes to who can legally operate a scooter. It also depends on the type. In some regions kids as young as 12 years of age can use them. However, in other areas you must be the same age as required to legally drive a car and have a valid driver’s license.

Small sized scooters are similar to a skateboard – you stand on a board. There are models that have a very thin board to stand on. There is a handle that is is shaped like the letter T, which you use to maneuver the scooter. This handle is adjustable to your height.

Some models have a small gas tank on the side of it that can hold up to 5 gallons of gas. This, of course, depends on the type of scooter that you want to buy. Lots of them come with a pull start mechanism that you should engage before you can get the fuel to run through the system and give you the necessary power to start moving around.

Some of the more costly scooters are similar to mopeds but they operate using a battery and electricity. These models may or may not use gas depending on which model you choose. The models that do need the use of gas do not consume very much of it at any given time.

The best way to save money on gas is to use fuel efficient vehicles such as seated electric scooters. They will get you where you need to go with no gas being used. Read also about adult electric scooters.

Some Harley owners like to fix their own bikes, thereby saving both money and riding time. An Harley Davidson can experience electrical problems at any time, but there can be a wait for a service appointment at some repair shops. The most common cause of electrical problems on a Harley Davidson is the battery or the voltage regulator. Troubleshooting can be performed in any garage, and it saves on expensive service bills.

When an ignition switch is bad, remove the old one and install the new ignition switch. Please note that this instruction is for an Harley with the ignition switch located on the tank instrument panel. Some ignition switches install on the forks of the bike. Refer to the owners manual and switch manual for the model specific instruction.

Make sure you gather all the tools that will be needed to do the job. These include, a torque wrench, the ignition switch, the owners manual for the bike, a Phillips screwdriver.

Take the new Harley ignition switch and place it on the console, where the old one was located. Line up the screw holes.

Insert the 4 screws and get them started in their holes. Tighten the screws, in a crosswise pattern, turning each screw a little at a time, until tightened.

Connect the light/key switch.

Place the top of the instrument console bolt in the space at the top of the underside of the console.

Slide the console to the install position. Attach the fuel pump connector. Bend the clamp and insert the fuel pump connection into the main harness.

Place the console in position on the fuel tank. Tighten the nut at the top of the console to 50-90lbs. Tighten the Phillips screw and washer that may also be present.

Install the bolt with a flat washer located on the rear of the fuel tank. This is on FLHRS models only. This bolt needs to be tightened to 15 to 20 lbs.

Install the new cable strap that came with the ignition. Place the cable strap into a hole on the left of the frame. Capture the main wiring harness, instrument console connector, and the fuel vent tube in the cable strap. Tighten the cable strap. Cut off any excess cable strap and discard.

Place the battery cable bolt through the battery negative cable terminal and tighten to 60-90lbs.

Install the seat and test the ignition.

It was in 1959 when the Triumph Bonneville first burst onto the scene which took its name from the salt lake flats of Utah where high speed records were attempted and broken. A 650cc parallel twin high performance sports machine at the time with production spanning a period of 26 years, finally ceasing in 1985 amidst the decline of the British motorcycle industry.

However, good news for Bonneville fans everywhere when in 2001 a brand new version of this awesome machine was introduced from Triumph’s factory in Hinckley, Leicestershire with a completely re-engineered version of the four-stroke parallel twin, but this time with 800cc.

Today the Bonneville boasts a vertical parallel twin engine producing 865cc which is surprisingly smooth throughout the revs encouraging still, clear views through the rear view mirrors. It has an air-cooled engine with twin exhausts emitting a quiet rumble reminiscent of the original burble of a Triumph twin.

The first Bonneville had cable-operated drum brakes whilst the latest version’s wire spoked wheels have a single hydraulic disc each bringing the performance of the brakes reassuringly bang up to date thanks to the industry’s technology.

The tyres run on seventeen inch rims which are just the right size to accommodate modern rubber but not so wide that they look out of proportion on what is predominantly a classically styled machine.

The switches and instruments are placed in a simple, standard layout rendering them easy to read with traditional looking warning lights with their bezel mounting on the alloy instrument surround although some view is lost in bright sunlight.

It seems that Triumph have given a lot of thought to just who their customers would be, providing a convenient seat height of 751mm, whilst the dry weight comes in at a manageable 203kg. One of the only niggles is that the sixteen litre fuel tank does not lock as a standard feature!

Thank you for reading my article.

Electric bicycles have been around for decades but have not been very popular with the American public since they were invented. But recently we have started to become more accustomed to battery powered bicycles, we are now discovering how fun and cost effective riding an electric bicycle can be, mainly because of high gas prices forcing us to find alternative way to save money and be energy efficient.

There are very few high quality and affordable electric bicycles on the market, some are of very good quality with everything someone could possibly want from an electric bike but they are not very cheap, as in the case of the Izip urban cruiser very well known to the minority of people who are familiar with electric bicycles. The urban cruiser is a really nice bike with many great features, it is very well design with great colors. But despite all that this bike has it might still be a little expensive for the average folks.

Alternatively, they are cheaper electric bicycle that provide most of the the features of the Izip urban cruiser as for example the XB-310 from Extremescooter, it is a very elegant bike, it has great style , can go beyond 15 mile per hour with Up to 15 – 22 Miles / 24 – 35 km Per Charge and is available in great colors also. If you envision your next electric bicycle to be affordable and of high quality, the Ezip coastline can be a great match for your desire.

When shopping for your e-bike, know that they are not the same as regular bicycles, they do not provide the same riding experience and therefore do not cost the same, you might find a very good electric bicycle around $700 but not below that, also always take into consideration the range of the battery.

Hop over to High Quality Electric bicycles to take a look at a wide range of electric bicycles and electric scooters.

By J. Bisnar

With a population over 201,000, Spokane in Spokane County, Washington is the second largest city in the state, and the fifth largest in the Pacific Northwest. The area’s scenic beauty has attracted many motorcyclists – more than any other city in the U.S. Unfortunately, there’s no escaping statistics: there were 14 motorcycle fatalities in 2009 in Washington, double the amount from 2008.

A study from The Media Audit revealed that Spokane, Washington was the top market in the U.S. for motorcycle ownership. Among adults who live in Spokane, 18.5 percent own a motorcycle, compared to 9 percent for all U.S. adults. There are more than 450 motorcycle models on the market, from cruisers to sport bikes to smaller fuel-efficient commuter bikes.

With so many motorcyclists in Spokane, one can be certain that motorcycle accidents and injuries will also be higher than average. Without walls of steel to surround them, and seat belts or air bags to protect them in a motorcycle crash, motorcycle riders sustain severe fractures, spinal injuries, traumatic brain injuries and even the loss of life.

Motorcycle attorneys will tell you that most motorcyclists are not wild outlaws. A Media Audit report revealed that a majority of motorcycle owners are married (59.2%) with an average age of 41 years. Adults who own a motorcycle earn $77,714 in annual household income, a figure that is $12,424 higher than the household income for the average U.S. adult.

In one fifth of all motorcycle accidents, the rider is not at fault. Many bikers suffer crash injuries because the driver of a car, SUV or other large motor vehicle was drunk, inattentive or distracted. Other accident causes include product defects and unsafe roadways or hazards.

Federal statistics show motorcyclists get into accidents at the same rate as drivers, yet they’re 35 times more likely to die and eight times more likely to be injured. Findings from FARS (Fatality Analysis Reporting System) reveal possible reasons for motorcycle fatalities in single-vehicle motorcycle crashes:

Helmet use among fatally injured motorcyclists below 50 percent

More motorcyclist fatalities are occurring on rural roads

High blood alcohol levels are a major problem among motorcycle operators

Half of the fatalities are related to negotiating a curve prior to the crash

Over 80 percent of the fatalities occur off roadway

Almost two thirds of the fatalities were associated with speeding

Almost 60 percent of motorcyclist fatalities occur at night

Collision with a fixed object is a significant factor in over half of the fatalities

More riders age 40 and over are getting killed

Traveling and commuting can really be annoying especially if time is of the essence. Imagine having only less than a week to visit and see all the things you want. It is really annoying when you have to think about the traffic. So if you need to go to your destination as fast as possible, why not rent a motorcycle?

Renting a motorcycle is a fun and easy way to reach your travel destination. Imagine having to sit for hours riding a car, van, or bus in a traffic-congested street or highway. With a motorcycle you can drive easily even on some busy streets or traffic-congested highway. You never have to miss an important work meeting or miss getting to the local museums, art galleries or theater on time!

When you plan your much-awaited vacation, either together with your life-partner or two of your closest friend, it is better that you already have a mode of transportation in mind. If you plan to go to a beautiful resort or just roam around the cities of Paris, Barcelona, Singapore, Thailand, or any place that you would like to visit, make sure that you have already included a vehicle service to take you to your desired scenic spots. If you know how to drive a motorcycle, go ahead and rent a motorcycle. But, remember that choosing this mode of transportation is ideal if you are traveling with your wife, girlfriend, or a close friend. It is convenient, cheap, and great if you love to travel light.

Me and my wife fell in love with this when we first saw it. It’s very unique and you don’t see many on the road with a side car. You will get a lot of attention in this scooter combo.

With the side car attached, top speed is only about 50 mph on flat roads. [UPDATE] I got the Sito+ muffler and deblued it, it has much better pull now, helps a lot on hills.

I’m 6′ 2″ and I even fit in the side car, my legs are not straight but it’s still comfortable. We can even go grocery shopping and put all the groceries in the side car, and then we both ride on the scooter on the way back.

I actually use G-OIL™ Garden & Recreational 2 Cycle GREEN Engine OIL.It burns very clean and it’s Biodegradable* and Environmentally Safe. Another great point is that it’s the same price or sometimes cheaper than regular 2 Cycle Engine Oil! I just got mine at Home Depot, but I’m sure you could get it in other places.

The engine is a 5-port 2-stroke engine. The transmission is a 4-speed manual with twist grip shifting. Which makes it very easy to drive to beginners. Stella comes in several colors: Black, Red, Light Blue, Avacado and Orange. Comes with Gabriel performance shocks. Brakes are good it has a hydraulic front disc brake and a 6″ rear drum.

Overall I love it, awesome gas mileage. But I wish it had some more power, the side car slows it down. But still plenty of power to get around town and that’s what a scooter is for anyway

Overall rating: 4.2
Performance: 3.0
Comfort: 4.0
Fuel Economy: 5.0
Fun-to-Drive: 4.0
Exterior Design: 4.0
Build Quality: 5.0
Reliability: 4.0

All Pit bikes carry a copy of the Honda CT110 Monkey bike engine that Honda released in the 1950’s.

The Chinese took this technology and bought the patent to the engine. Basically the 125cc is a supped up version of the Honda CT110. In there wisdom they used the same engine casings and engine barrel honed it out to fit 54mm piston and lengthen the stroke.

125cc Engines are now stable and reliable but there first release in the market there were a nightmare.

Some common problems for the 125cc (when 1st release)

• The clutches weren’t strong enough to handle the extra power that the 125cc had.

• The gear boxes were weak and you would usually lose 2 gear. Again increasing the power output without upgrading the rest of the engine.

• Over heating of the engine. The pistons used were only a garden variety . The aluminum would stress at high temperatures warping and burning out the rings. It would melt and the piston in the barrel. Ouch Not good.

• The inner seals on the side of the sprocket & clutch covers would burst and leak gear box oil because the pressure release valve would get jammed between the frame and the engine in assembly not allowing the engine pressure to escape.

• Crucial Engine internals such as piston, rings, bearings were getting made from cheap raw materials resulting in poor quality product.

The best 125cc engine and most common and reliable on the market is the Li fan engine. A close 2nd comes the Zongshen, Then Du car. The Jailing 125cc is the best racing engine built for the 125cc class but its a lot more expensive.

Some 5 years later the 125cc engines are now very reliable and 99.5% of all the problems have been ironed out. It just goes to show that vintage Japanese technology was far advanced for its time.

The word helmet is widely known for it serves two purposes: for protection and for recreation. A helmet is worn on the head to protect it from injuries. It is like a hat but its design is more of protecting the head from any untoward incidents. Its use can be traced back to Ancient Greek soldiers who wore thick leather or bronze helmets to protect the head from sword blows and arrows. Later, helmets are designed to protect the head from bullets and shell fragments.

Sports (horse racing, football, ice hockey, cricket, and rock climbing) enthusiasts, workers engaged in dangerous works (construction, mining, riot police); drivers of motorcycles and bicycles make use of helmets. Motorcycle helmets are largely popular because majority of the people have motorcycles around the globe. Motorcycle drivers usually would buy discount motorcycle helmets or even cheap motorcycle helmets. The price is not really significant what is important is it serves the purpose. Well, there are those who are after of star wars motorcycle helmets for social identity and fashion.

Traffic enforcers implement the rule that motorcycle drivers should wear helmets. Accidents do not give warning, hence, prevention is better. People want to get a great deal. Discount are a good option for those who have limited budget. However, it is important to note that the purchase is sound enough. Having more than one helmet is already a luxury, a motorcycle driver needs only one helmet for protection. But of course, if there is much money available, you can buy two or three discount helmets. These can be a good gift to a friend.

Try also to window shop first for cheap helmets. You would never know if you’ll also find one that is cheap but durable. When you wear the helmet, you will not be wearing the tag price, right? Don’t mind what others will say. They are entitled to their own opinion.

Star wars helmets are patterned after the characters of the movie Star Wars. Here are different designs : adult deluxe storm trooper, X-wing helmet, adult deluxe Bobba Fett, adult deluxe Jango Fett, 3D helmet shaped pull string pinata, Hasbro clone trooper voice changer helmet, collectible storm trooper helmet, clone trooper collectible star wars helmet, and many more. These helmets also go with costumes. If you want to be safe and be “in” in terms of fashion, you can choose one of these helmets.

The decision as to what to purchase lies in you. Get to know how much is your budget, by then you can choose discount or cheap motorcycle helmets or Star Wars designed helmets.
