Let us face it the fee of fuel has remained steady and we all need help reducing on fuel prices. There are a couple tips that we would all use for saving on fuel.

1. Keep your tires properly filled, all tires might be checked once a month as part of your average vehicle maintenance. Savings would add up to 6% gas savings. This is also a good time to check your air filter and fluids, keeping your automobile running in top mechanical shape.

2. Empty your car or trunk of unnecessary things to lower car weight. You would save a mile per gallon on gasoline for every 250 pounds of weight.

3. Use savings cards that are available at your grocer, you should save up to 10 cents per gallon on the amount of gasoline. Gas station credit cards also provide savings when you use it at the pump.

4. Purchase your gasoline early in the day or late in the evening when gasoline evaporation will arise less with lower temperatures.

5. Do not leave your vehicle running for long periods of time, anything over a minute is costing your more than restarting your automobile. Once the interior temperature of your vehicle has cooled down turn off the air condition for a bit and run the vents. Cool air will continue to circulate for quite a while. Turn off your defrost after the windshield is cleared as well.

6. Easy on the gas and brakes in your automobile would help you with savings on fuel prices.

Randy just found out you can compare the gas prices in your neighborhood. Another way to get more out of your car is by getting a credit card that offers cash back at the gas pump.

Although every driver on the road would like to be riding on brand new tires with fresh tread, there are some times in life when one must opt for the second best option, used tires. If your funds are running low, there are often some good used ones on the market that can suffice until you are able to afford better ones for your car.

If you are just buying used ones for your car to save money but can afford to buy new tires, consider the new ones. Tires are an extremely important safety aspect of your vehicle. If you have one blowout while driving you will understand this importance more clearly. Nevertheless, you must be careful when buying them secondhand.

There are two types of used tires. Literally those that are used that someone no longer wanted because they bought new ones. These are usually the worst option and should only be considered as a means to an end until your next payday. (Of course, if they are in really good shape because someone just changed the wheel size on their vehicle during a customization, then you might use them for many miles without trouble). Retreaded ones are a better option than just simply used ones. A retread shop retreads and sells some that are almost as good as new ones for a fraction of the price.

Before shopping, you should check the size of those that is on your vehicle currently, and make a note of it. Arm yourself with a tread gauge, or bring along a penny for measuring the tread. This part is not particularly difficult, but it is an essential part to getting your money’s worth. Also be sure to feel for tears on the inner edge of the tire; any rips or tears along this edge will prevent sealing around your rim properly.

Used tires are usually not people’s first choice, but they can be one of the best way for you to save money if you need to replace your current old tires.

In order to remove the radio, the entire lower dash panel must be removed in order to gain access to the screws that secure the radio. The plastic dash surrounding the radio is actually connected as one unit to the rest of the lower dash. But before this lower dash panel can be removed, the black plastic panel surrounding the instrument cluster must also be removed. The lower part of this panel snaps into the dash panel near the steering wheel.

Step One
At the very bottom of the dash panel near the foot pedals, locate and remove six 7mm bolt screws.

Step Two
Unsnap the fuse panel cover door at the far left of the dash. Remove one 7mm bolt screw hidden behind the fuse box cover.

Step Three
Remove the two 7mm bolt screws that secure the top of the plastic panel surrounding the instrument display.

Step Four
Once the two screws are removed, grab the top of the black plastic and pull forward until the top separates from the main dash. Continue pulling until the bottom unsnaps from the dash.

Step Five
Open the glove box and pull the top right corner of the panel until it begins to unsnap from the dash. Continue pulling to the left side of the vehicle until the dash is completely removed and drops to the floor.

Step Six
Once the lower dash panel has been removed, the screws securing the radio are accessible. Remove the two 7mm bolt screws securing the radio. Pull the radio out of the dash. Unplug the black cable and plastic connector plugged into the back of the radio. You may now fully remove the radio from the vehicle.

When taking into consideration an extended vehicle warranty for your automobile, there is a small list of things you should know. Extended vehicle warranties (also known auto service contracts) offer you an extended interval of coverage after your manufactures warranty expires. If you’re trying to guard your investment, it is a smart choice to consider one of these plans. Repairs can be costly, and the expense can get elevated every day!

It can seem that once the original warranty on your vehicle expires, that your vehicle is pre-programmed to self-destruct. When the odometer rolls above that magic number set by the manufacturer, it just seems that it’s time to start having to pay repair bills. Although it’s highly doubtful that it’s anything intentional on the part of the manufacturer, cars just are not built to last forever and mechanical failure of some sort, is inevitable.

When researching extended vehicle warranties, it’s of the essence to understand how these programs work. Although plans are often different depending on the provider, many of them offer similar features. Make sure you choose an extended auto warranty that not only covers mechanical breakdown, but general wear and tear as well.

If you own an extended auto warranty and your vehicle breaks down or needs repair, you will simply take your vehicle to an official service location inside the association of providers. Subsequently a request will be filed with your provider. You ought to know that many extended vehicle warranties may possibly require you to pay a deductible, so be certain you understand this before going to the repair shop.

When choosing an extended auto warranty from a respectable company, you can feel safe knowing that your car will be received at all participating repair facilities around the nation. Your warranty provider will assist you on where you can have your vehicle repaired in the event of a breakdown. Many plans will cover the cost of a tow truck if you are unable to drive your vehicle to the repair facility. Just make for certain you’re clear on whether or not this is covered in advance of signing anything or committing to an extended auto warranty.

You will want to be sure that the extended auto warranty you acquire covers parts and labor. With labor rates racing off the charts in repair shops, purchasing a plan that only covers parts will cost you a lot of money. If you have questions concerning this issue, consult a spokesperson from your company. It’s absolutely critical to make sure you’re clear on all the details of your warranty before signing anything.

There are a sufficient number of extended auto warranty providers out there. You can decide on a brick and mortar source, or simplify the process and take care of everything online! Thanks to the Internet, there are extended auto warranty companies that will provide you a hassle free quote from the comfort of your own home. If you have questions or concerns regarding the plan, there are toll-free numbers that will give you access to a rep, or you can correspond via email.

Information is crucial on behalf of anyone seeking extended vehicle warranties. Compare several companies and plans to make sure you’re getting the absolute preeminent plan at the best price. Choosing the best plan from the right company can save you a lot of time, misfortune, and money.

In times of financial difficulties, it’s going to be tough for small businesses like your auto repair shop. You need to have a steady stream of customers to keep your enterprise alive. But, finding new customers on these days would be hard. However, once you have already built your credibility among your clients, there’s nothing to worry about. Providing your clients with quality repair services and great products is a strong foundation and reason enough for people to keep coming back to you.

You still need to turn those new clients into loyal customers, though. Here are some tactics to help you establish good relationship with them and keep them loyal to your business:

Tips on Keeping Customers Loyal to Your Business

• Get to know your customers. Create and keep a list of your clients with their names, addresses and birthdays (if possible). This way, it would be easy to communicate with them. You can send them news about product and auto repair service deals, arrival of new auto part replacement stocks and even greetings on their special days. These will make your customers feel that they are special and important to you. Sending them greeting postcards on their birthdays is also great.

• Give freebies and special discounts. Send your auto repair clients any items that will make them happy. You can send car key chains, dashboard organizer, car stuffed toys or any small accessories that your clients can display and use in their vehicles. These things will have your auto repair shop’s name, address as well as contact numbers. The more your customers see and use these things with your business name on it, the more they are reminded about you. If you don’t want to send these gifts directly to your clients, you can send them promotional prints with coupons that they can use for claiming. You can send in postcards, brochures or rack cards with tear-off portion.

• Be attentive to the needs of your clients. As much as possible, memorize the vehicles owned by your clients. With this, you can offer them any new products or services that will be great for their rides. For example, if a client owns an off-road truck that he usually drives to countryside and back roads, you may recommend a sturdy bumper cover and mud guard. You can also tell them when it is due for wheel alignment jobs or under chassis inspection. Sending postcards, flyers and brochures are ways to convey such messages. Your clients will feel and realize that you care for them and their vehicles.

• Keep your customers happy. Show your clients that you care for them and their vehicles like they are your real friends. Also, teach them of the things that they should know about auto repairs and maintenance. Let them know that you will always be striving hard to meet their demands as well as the demands of their vehicles. These things will all make your customers happy about your business, and therefore make them loyal to you.

If you are successful in doing any of the tips above, you don’t even need to find new clients. People will be coming to find you instead. That’s the best thing about having a business foundation that speaks of quality service and great customer service. Your business will become in-demand, thanks to word-of-mouth marketing.

By Jeff Elder

The difference between amounts certain mechanics will charge you for repairs can be in the thousands of dollars. You’ll certainly want to find someone who can help you keep your car in good condition without charging you a fortune to do so. Though you might have dozens of auto mechanics around, it should be easy to find a dependable shop if you take the right approach.

Localization is key to finding a good mechanic. For instance, if you’re looking for a Delaware, Ohio mechanic, your first course of action should be to speak to friends and family members directly around the Delaware area, particularly those with some knowledge of auto maintenance and repair. Try to find a personal recommendation, and don’t simply ask who someone uses, ask why they use them as well. Find out about specific experiences that they’ve had with the mechanic.

You can also use the Internet to improve your chances of finding someone reliable. Type a phrase like “Delaware, Ohio mechanic” into Google or an auto repair guide site. Look for personal reviews of the different mechanics in your area to compare price and reliability. Again, you want to focus on personal experience, not general reviews. You ideally want to find out how a mechanic deals with tough situations, and see how the business reacts when a mechanic makes a mistake. Recognize that it’s nearly impossible for working mechanics to avoid a negative review or two, but if a particular auto mechanic has an overall poor rating, steer clear.

Talking to your auto mechanic is important. Even if you know nothing about cars, it’s easy to figure out whether a certain shop knows their business – they should be able to clearly explain what’s wrong with your car (or if nothing’s wrong with it, how and why you can keep it maintained). You should never feel like you’re in the dark.

By doing your homework, you should be able to find an auto mechanic that you will be able to depend on for years to come.

Oxford Auto Service is a Delaware, Ohio based automotive repair center. The technicians at Oxford Auto believe that customer deserves nothing but the utmost in quality, care, and service.

(1) Check your fuse, which located in the fuse box going to the rear-window defroster unit. Use a voltmeter to see if both sides of the fuse get a sufficient reading. If you can’t get a reading, replacement of the fuse will be necessary.

(2) Check the terminals on the defroster grid, which are usually located at the top or sometimes the bottom of the grid. Sometimes the terminals get broken. Check both terminals and if they are broken, they can be put back together with glue. Be sure that the broken ends are placed together firmly so as to receive continuity. (Look at your wiring diagram located in your automotive manual.)

(3) Locate the wires plugged into the back of the defroster switch for the rear window. Be sure the fuse is plugged in. then, disconnect both wires leading to the switch and touch both ends of the wires. Hold them together for a few seconds and the defroster should not come on while the wires are held together. (This will mean that you will need a new defroster switch.)

(4) Inspect the wires under the dash leading away from the defroster switch and if they are intact, check the defroster grid on the rear window for any breaks. If any breaks are found but the ends are intact, you can apply some glue on both ends of the broken pieces of the grid and stick them back together.

(5) If you find a broken piece of the grid that is missing a piece then, you will need to buy a defroster repair kit (available at an auto parts retailer) You will find conductive paint included within the kit.

(6)Clean off the area of the break with alcohol and apply the paint to the area that is broken.

(7)Let the area dry for 12 to 24 hours, then your defroster will be ready to use.

By following these steps outlined above, replacement of the entire back glass is not entirely necessary when the rear-window defroster on the car’s back glass gets damaged.

Having a clean windshield is not just for appearance sake. It contributes greatly to your driving safety. If your windshield is cloudy or unclear, how can you drive? You could be a danger to yourself as well as others. No one should drive with a dirty windshield. Fortunately, every automobile comes with a windshield washer cleaning system. The only thing you have to do is make sure it always contains the appropriate amount of fluid.

Don’t settle for just water. Water alone will not always get the job done. Economically speaking windshield washer fluid is cheaper than a gallon of water – not to mention that it has an anti-icing system built right into it. That’s right; windshield washer fluid does not freeze. You can actually spray the fluid directly onto your windshield to break down any freezing that may occur during winter driving.

Filling Washer Fluid

This is as easy it gets. First, you open the hood of your car and make sure it is well supported or propped. Next locate the white plastic container. The cap will have a picture of the windshield and wipers. The cap itself is usually blue but yours may have a different color. Either way, the picture of the windshield and wipers should be obvious. Once located, open the container cap and fill it. That’s it. How easy is that?

Make Your Own Washer Fluid

You can even make your own washer fluid. After seeing this, you may never buy it again

Here a short list of what you’ll need:

Water

White vinegar

A funnel

An empty milk jug or container

Instructions:

Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water.. Once thoroughly mixed, use the solution to fill the windshield washer container under your hood.

“That’s it?!” you might say. Yep. This is why it works: The vinegar contains acetic acid, which breaks up and dissolves all sorts of grime on your windshield including bugs and sap.

The benefits of this homemade solution is that it inexpensive and effective. It is also environmentally friendly which is important.

Windshield Maintenance for Summer and Winter Driving

Safe driving should always be a guiding principle when you’re behind the wheel. As the warmer months approach, road trips and visits to family can be a lot of fun. In these economic times, it may be a good alternative to a plane ticket and traveling half way around the world, which is also great. But driving to see family has its own separate rewards and undoubtedly, during summer months and with kids out of school, many families will be doing just that. But, if you are driving to your warm weather destination, don’t neglect your windshield. A clean windshield promotes safety. It should always be a priority, especially if you have your kids in the backseat. Besides, caring for your windshield is among the easiest car care tasks you could perform.

During winter holiday driving, the season makes us more aware of our windshield fluid levels. But in warmer months, we seem to forget about checking the levels. It may not be snowing but as cars slosh through muddy roads, you’ll find that some of this grime will find its way to your windshield. But, if you’ve filled up the washer reservoir with fluid then you’ll have no problems. Don’t wait until a situation occurs to remind you to top off your windshield washer levels. Many people get a windshield treatment done also. Just make inspecting your washer fluid level part of your normal regular car maintenance.

If you run a fleet of vehicles then perhaps you’re already aware of the consequences of injector fouling, and the impacts it can have on your business.

If you’re not aware, here’s what you need to know, and why you might be worried.

1. Modern and new fuels, such as bio-fuels and Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (USLD), are being used as alternatives to traditional diesel and petrol.

2. One of the disadvantages of using ULSD is that it can cause deposits to build up in the engine, because of the extreme heat and high pressure used to remove the sulfur.

3. These issues aren’t apparent in older diesel engines, as the temperatures and pressures in modern engines are much higher than in older diesel engines.

4. This can also lead to fuel filter plugging, whereby the fuel filter gets clogged with these deposits, and so the effectiveness and performance of the engine suffers. This means that the fuel filter might need to be changed after as few as 10-12000 miles.

5. Injector fouling can also result due to the formation of these deposits. This will lead to power loss, an increase in diesel consumption and increased smoke emissions. This can mean that the vehicle is off the road, and increased maintenance costs.

6. There are traditional detergents which can be used to clean diesel injectors, but these are less effective in the modern fuels, due to the higher temperature and pressures used. However, there are new detergents that will make a difference.

7. These modern detergents need to be able to clean the injector valve, seat and nozzle, in order to keep the engine running smoothly and to reduce the risk of a loss of power or economy.

8. Increased reliability and economy can be obtained from ensuring that the injectors are clean. This also means that running costs are reduced.

9. Because the vehicles are spending more time on the road, and are more economical, less time and money needs to be spent on maintenance. This can prove to be a substantial saving, especially for haulage fleets, emergency services, taxis and those involved with public transport.

10. Without the right detergents to resolve injector fouling, there is an increase in overall running costs and engines don’t last as long, have less power, and increased exhaust emissions.

Now you know more about why you need to use the right detergents, perhaps now is the time you need to think more about injector fouling.
